Niall of the Nine Hostages

This page is for the Niall Malone at the medical centre. Some history of the name Niall is set out.

Dear Mr Malone

You are to meet me on 3 Nov at 1300.

One reason for your page is that this website sets out an example of my aim to improve my own health when possible.

If you do show Dr Khan, it may be an aspect of autism.

Going back to the main subject, my left knee, Dr Khan and I met briefly on Thursday when he said he would phone me the next day. I now have been told he won't be back until Thursday coming. That he didn't phone was very disappointing. Another wait is worse.

With 7 million NHS patients in queues to be seen, I do not anticipate or expect to be seen this side of the horizon.  However, I need to know my place in any queue.

Yesterday and today while on a short walk my left knee went into spasm and the pain was of the PL scale.  I was brought home by helpful neighbours.

And now some Irish history.

My late wife (2217) was born Teresa Diana Isobel O'Donel Alexander.

Her family history evolved whereby all new-borns were named with O'Donel as part of their name.

Her father was Arthur Francis O'Donel Alexander here.

O'Donel is repeated numerously in a family ancestry chart and in the history of  Niall of the Nine Hostages.

Niall received his epithet because he had a penchant for taking hostages from other kingdoms.

Clan O'Donnell – Ó Dómhnaill

Niall of the Nine Hostages (Nial Noai nGiallach) who reigned from 379- 405 AD and who is reputed to have brought St. Patrick to Ireland as a slave boy, had many sons. One of those, Conall, asserted his dominance over that territory which later became known as Tír Chonaill

If you explore you'll see that Nial was a local king who raided nine other kingships and stole a daughter from each king who were held to great ransom.

------------

Conall and Chonaill became Conel as is Conel Hugh Alexander here Teresa's uncle.

Dr Conel Patrick Tweedie Alexander was her brother. here
